Bye Bye G130 #2310. Spare parts for sale.

April 6th, 2010

I had to send off the spare Datsun Super Six (Cedric) chassis to the scrap metal merchants. It was taking up too much room in the shed, preventing me from getting any other cars in there to work on.

I'd spend the last couple of weeks stripping most useful parts off it in my spare time. So I have some spare G130 parts for sale. Was a shame to scrap it really. It was a good straight chassis, no accident damage and very little rust, but I just didn't have any room for it.

I'll list up some of the spare parts, but for now you can see some at JNC (registration/login required.)

Datsun 2300 Super Six (Nissan Cedric)

February 15th, 2009

As previously mentioned I now have a 1969 Datsun 2300 Super Six. I spent a little time this past weekend getting the engine running. The original L23 had been replaced with an L28. That means it has a 2.8 litre engine instead of a 2.3 litre for you non-Nissan folk.

The internal heater core was leaking, and so was the return fuel line. I bypassed the coolant pipe to the heater core and fixed the fuel leak. Also fixed a vacuum leak to the carburetor. The engine started up without too much trouble after that. The brakes need fixing next.

Some more info in the Nissan Cedric is available at www.earlydatsun.com Mine is the Mark 4 130 series. Apparently the 130 series was originally designed by Italian Designer Pininfarina, though the Mark 4 has a redesigned front end done in-house at Nissan.

I found the service book and an original sales brochure from 1969 in the cars glovebox, which I'll scan and put up on the site later.

Free Datsun Super Sixes (Nissan Cedric)

February 10th, 2009

I picked up 2 Datsun Super Six cars on the weekend. The owner wanted them gone, and was going to send them to the crusher if no one wanted them. Well no one wanted them, so I hired a trailer and saved them.

The red one is the good one, the gray one is a parts car. Not really sure what I'll do with them. I'll strip any useful parts of the gray one and send it off for scrap, as there is no room for it here.

I'll see if I can get the red one running. I almost had it going on the weekend.
